Why this shop exists
I'm Christopher Ross. I write about WordPress and run thisismyurl.com, and I sail. Annapolis Tools is a different thing from either of those: a small CNC and 3D-printing shop where I design and make tools, not write about them.
Three lines, one shop. CNC tools for small professional shops, mostly work-holding and setup gear for the kind of one- and two-person operation I'd want to buy from myself. 3D-printed tools for the same market, workflow and calibration parts for a printer doing real work. And custom hardware for sailors, CNC-machined or printed to fit a boat that doesn't match anyone's catalog part number, which is the piece that connects this shop to Sail Commons, my free sailing-education project. Sail Commons teaches how a boat works. Annapolis Tools makes the part that doesn't exist yet.
Everything here is designed as a CAD model I draw myself, then machined or printed to order, not sourced from a catalog and relabeled. Material and finish are listed plainly on every part. I'd rather ship less and ship it right than pad a catalog with parts I wouldn't trust on my own bench.
This is a new shop. The line-up is short because a part ships once it has actually been proven, not before. If you need something machined or printed that isn't listed yet, that's still a conversation worth having.
